How To Create a Hyperlink Using Word


Linking to a Web Page
  1. Go to the website that will be linked - the is the Target.
  2. Click on the address so that it is selected.
  3. Hit CTRL C. This is COPY.
  4. Go to your Word document.
  5. Highlight the link - this is what you want the reader to click on in order to go to the TARGET.
  6. Click the Hyperlink icon (the globe).
  7. When the Hyperlink box is displayed, click in the Address box.
  8. Hit CTRL V. This is PASTE.

Linking to Another Page in your Site
  1. Go to your Word document.
  2. Highlight the link - this is what you want the reader to click on in order to go to the TARGET.
  3. Click the Hyperlink icon (the globe).
  4. Note that you will see a list of your files in the window.
  5. Select the file that you want to link to.

Linking to Another Section in the Current Document
Before you can create the link,You must create the Target.
If the target is within the current document, it is referred to as a Bookmark.
  1. Go to your Word document.
  2. Go to the Target. This is where you want the reader to go.
  3. On the Menu, click Insert / Bookmark. The Bookmark is displayed.
  4. Type a name for your bookmark and click Add.
  5. Now you are back in the Word document.
  6. Go to the text that you want to be the link to the bookmark.
  7. Highlight the link - this is what you want the reader to click on in order to go to the TARGET.
  8. Click the Hyperlink icon (the globe).
  9. Click the Bookmark button on the right.
  10. Select the bookmark that you want to link to and Click OK.
